Volunteers wanted!
We are looking for volunteers (all sexes, ages minimal eighteen) who would like to participate in a small medical-scientific study. Participation on your part means contributing to the fight against infectious diseases.
Research on activation of the human immune system
The aim of our research is to establish whether a product we have developed is effective in activating the innate primary immune system in people of all ages.
In recent years, Wageningen University and Umani Medical have been conducting scientific research and successfully carrying out tests. We wish to use our product - the Activator - for medical applications and investigate its effect in humans.
An active immune system reduces the effects of infectious diseases
The most numerous type of immune cells in humans are white blood cells known as neutrophils. In the event of infection, these neutrophils are the first line of defence, inhibiting infection and initiating the next step in the immune response that clears up infection completely.
Stimulation using extremely weak electromagnetic fields enhances and accelerates this neutrophil response. As a result, the severity of the consequences of an infection is reduced, which in turn means people getting sick less. We are able to measure neutrophil activity, which is why we take a small amount of blood before and after stimulation with the Activator.
Wageningen University is organising the study
The study, which has been approved by the appropriate medical ethics review committee, is being put in place by Wageningen University, and will be supervised by doctors and researchers at Bernhoven hospital in Uden.
The study will be carried out in Bernhoven hospital
We will ask you to come to Bernhoven hospital in Uden on two occasions during a two-week period. A nurse will take a small amount of blood from you before and after both treatments. These treatments are exactly the same, but the Activator will only really work on one occasion. We will not let you know when that is. Indeed, those supervising you won’t know either, as only our researchers are able to determine when treatment is effective. Following this approach allows us to conduct an objective investigation.
You won’t notice the treatment
Treatment lasts thirty minutes in both cases, and you won’t notice it while it is ongoing. The Activator is safe and generates no noise or perceptible vibrations. You may sit on a chair and read or listen to music during treatment.
Participation on your part means contributing to the fight against infectious diseases
If successful, there will be a follow-up in which the effect of our product - the Activator - will be investigated in terms of its effectiveness in combating infectious diseases, such as COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus. However, your written consent will be required in order to participate.
Reimbursement of travel expenses
Umani Medical BV will reimburse your travel expenses and provide you, of course, with a cup of coffee or tea.
